Gardening
Peter built a garden this year, and I am watering it every night to keep the plants alive. It's our first gardening experience that seems to be working
Our First Garden (I should get that engraved on an ornament).
Last year I tried a bucket garden on our deck. GARDENING FAIL. I think the entire project resulted in two tomatoes and a bunch of zucchini flowers (no zucchini though). Nice high water bill too. This year Peter built a raised bed. He was happy to do it... I mean who doesn't love to play with power tools, right?
The garden has 4 tomato, 1 pepper, 2 eggplant, 1 squash, 1 zucchini, spinach, green onions, 1 garlic, 3 cucumber, 1 rosemary, and 2 basil plants. I also have parsley, mint, cilantro, and oregano in pots on the deck. I make a lot of breads, soups, and sauces so the herbs are not a new experience this year.
The garden is doing really well. Everything is growing rapidly... I have a few green tomatoes and the squash, zucchini, and cucumber plants are in full bloom. Pretty sure I see pepper buds too. Here are a few more pictures from earlier this week. It seems like the plants have doubled in size though... I will have to take a few more update pictures.
We have netting over the garden to keep the deer out... lots of wildlife hang out around our house. Apparently the netting keeps the squirrels out too... although squirrels are crafty. They will probably figure it out.
We have some room in the middle still, so I am contemplating what to plant next.

Bennett

This is Bennett, my crazy Australian Shepherd (although I think Aussie's are crazy, not just this one). He's very smart, but he forages for anything that fits into his little mouth.
Pollen? Yup. Berries? Of course. Rocks? His favorite.
This past February we were lucky enough to get some snow and he wasn't sure how to get it all into his mouth. It's a good thing we live in Texas.

I'm Back
I spent some time over at wordpress, but decided their templates did not fit my needs.
Blogger makes it easy to edit html, so i'm back over here.
Stay tuned for posts over the next few days. I have been very busy with school, but my blogging hiatus has left me with several photo shoots to write about from earlier in the year.
